Overlander Bandshell

Description

This open, space-frame type of roof structure maximizes span and minimizes mass and columns.  The backside of the shell is open allowing views through to the natural setting backdrop.  The design specifically was designed with minimal maintenance in mind while creating an identity for the park.  Built in the floodplain of Portage Creek, the platform and structure is designed with the intent of resisting flood conditions.  The elevation of the platform is raised to flood level, and the audience part of the site is dished to combine to give good sightlines for all participants.  The shell is sited to take advantage of summer sunsets while eliminating glare to the performers.
