This $100 million economic development initiative was designed to encourage social activity and link the city to the original pedestrian mall.  The initiative grew with the inception of the Kalamazoo Valley Community College Arcadia campus and museum, residential lofts, re-facing and remodel of the Radisson hotel and new retail stores. It continues to be a catalyst for economic development, demonstrated by the 2004 completion of Arcadia Creek Commons for open air concerts and events. To date, the redevelopment totals more than $225 million. The revitalized area is an example showing how historic buildings can mix with modern vernacular architecture to create enriched cultural and energy-filled experiences.
