A.M. Todd Company

Description

Built at a time when new structural methods were being explored in building, this concrete skeleton allows the material of brick and limestone to move to adornments. The use of these materials is showcased in the basket weave brick, brick pilasters, limestone entry, limestone pilaster caps and horizontal banding. The continuation of these original adornments in the new additions, the 1964 wing that protrudes north of the original building and the 1991 wing protruding to the south, allows the additions to blend with the existing, being virtually impossible to distinguish as new. This building has been referred to as a “twentieth-century Gothic Revival” and Prairie or Modern.
