Industrial State Bank, now known as Comerica Bank, is located on the former sites of many retail shops, but most significantly known as the former location of the Academy of Music, until its’ fire in 1930. In 1967, two buildings were razed to construct the office building. Its’ modern style of the 1960’s influenced the sleek look of steel and glass in this brown box building. The street level was designed to house small businesses, such as eateries, small retail shops, and offices. Typical of the modular construction of the modern period, the center of the building houses the core facilities of restrooms, elevators and stairs, and the surrounding eight floors of space is reconfigurable office space accommodating the changing space requirements as companies may grow or decrease in size.
