Built in 2002, the Innovation Center at Business Technology and Research Park (BTR) is a laboratory building with private leases to researchers.  Research in the Kalamazoo SmartZone is being undertaken at the Innovation Center, which is located along U.S. 131 on WMU’s Parkview Campus.  The center is run by economic development agency Southwest Michigan First (SMF), and provides 58,000 SF of wet lab space in which new bioscience firms can incubate, grow and remain in Southwest Michigan.
